Chapter Advisors:
Kappa Alpha Theta Wants You!
She is a teacher, a mentor, a role model, a counselor, and a friend. She helps college women develop as individuals, become leaders, and prepare for life after college. Dedicated advisors are an integral part of the success of Theta college chapters.
What do advisors do?
Each of our college chapters needs a board of advisors to provide guidance and advice on finance, membership recruitment, discipline, risk management, and all other chapter issues. Advisors communicate regularly with chapter officers and make themselves available to all members of the chapter, help the chapter plan and implement officer transition, know and support the laws and procedures of the Fraternity, and handle disciplinary proceedings in an equitable and positive manner.
What kind of support is available to advisors?
Advisory boards are supported by a network of Fraternity officers and staff, including the chapter services department, district officers, and the Fraternity vice-president college. Multiple opportunities are available for training and networking.
What do alumnae gain by serving as advisors?
On a personal level, many alumnae want to give back to Theta some of what they received from their own college experiences. Advisors also gain satisfaction from knowing that they are helping to keep the Fraternity strong and reputable. An effective advisory board can be the key to a chapter's success. Through involvement with a college chapter, advisors have the opportunity to contribute to the future while developing new friendships and gaining new experiences.
How do I learn more about becoming an advisor?
Advisory boards are appointed by college district presidents (CDPs) for a one-year term. In the Theta Directory section, you can find contact information for the CDP in your area. You may also contact the chapter services department at Fraternity headquarters by calling 800-526-1870 or via email .
