"... we hope to publish a first-class fraternity magazine. It is well to aim high. We want our kite to fly near the sun."
These words were written in 1885, when Theta's Grand Convention voted to establish a magazine and place its editorship with the Kappa Chapter at Kansas. In the intervening years, Kappa Alpha Theta's magazine has undergone a change of title (from The Journal to The Kappa Alpha Theta Magazine), a change of publication schedule (from monthly to quarterly), and several changes of editors (20 Thetas have served as editor, one of them twice).
Today, The Kappa Alpha Theta Magazine is published in April, June, September, and December of each year. It is intended to update, educate, and entertain readers about the Fraternity and its college and alumnae chapters and to serve as an enduring link between the international Fraternity and its members.
Distribution
The online version of our magazine debuted in 2006 and comprises all the features of the printed version. It is available to every Theta at any time!
Printing and mailing our magazine is one of the largest expenses the Fraternity incurs each year, and
collegiate fees have been funding it for many years. To allow the Fraternity to use its financial resources more
efficiently and be a good steward of member dues, the current distribution plan for the printed version will gradually
change. All four yearly issues of the printed version of The Magazine will be mailed to college members,
Theta Life Loyal members,
and alumnae who pay dues through an alumnae chapter or circle or
directly to the Fraternity. A time line for the transition appears below:
Alumnae are encouraged join an alumnae group, pay Fraternity dues, or enroll in
Theta Life Loyal,
to continue to receive all four printed issues of our magazine.

Assignments are made to alumnae and college chapters each autumn, via The Bulletin, and published the following

a guarantee of publication, The Magazine staff does promise to carefully consider each submission and publish as
