Hearts & Heels 2011

FUNDRAISING

Third Annual Hearts & Heels Event for CASA a success!

The Denver Alumnae Chapter donates both volunteer time and money to a variety of causes. Proceeds from our annual fundraisers support the two college chapters in Colorado, the local CASA organizations, Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, the DAC Pansy Fund for Thetas in Need and the Denver Alumnae Chapter Educational Trust Fund Scholarship.

Our 3rd Annual Hearts & Heels fundraiser event to raise funds and support for local CASA organizations took place on September 22, 2011.

Special thanks to co-chairs Allison Klein and Jane Siekmeier!

 Pansies and Plants Fundraiser

The 2011 annual Pansies and Plants fundraiser was a great sucess!  Special thanks to Shera Eddy and Jil Doughtie for chairing the program and to Newberry Brothers Nursery.  Funds from the plant sale are used to support the programs of the Denver Alumnae Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta, our scholarship efforts, and the local chapters of CASA. This sale is held every spring - watch for details in early spring!

Gathering supplies for the Warm Welcome Bags.

SERVICE

In May  we put together Warm Welcome Bags for the Newborns in Need program at Denver Health.  Supplies including booties, hats, onesies, diapers, wipes, books, and toys were provided by Denver Health and those organizations who dontate to them.  Thetas assembled more than 100 Warm Welcome Bags.

 Warm Hearts Warm Blankets 2010
In November we made blankets for kids in the CASA program. These warm and fuzzy blankets were given to CASA to give to kids as they are often removed from their homes quickly and unable to take personal items.

Denver Alumnae Chapter Educational Trust Fund Scholarship

Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation awards merit-based scholarships for undergraduate and graduate education each school year. Approximately 200 Theta collegians and alumnae received scholarships for 2009-2010 totaling over $500,000.

Through Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, the Denver Alumnae Chapter established the Denver Alumnae Chapter Educational Trust Fund Scholarship in 1993. Each year, this scholarship is awarded to a deserving collegian. Donations to Foundation may be earmarked for the Denver ETF by simply writing "Denver ETF" in the memo portion of any check payable to Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation. These funds will be deposited directly into the ETF.

Your annual gift to Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation helps make these programs a reality and has a powerful impact on the lives of our members.
