Social Events

As members of Kappa Alpha Theta, we take pride in our high academic achievements and sisterly bonds, but we also know how to have fun! We have several social events throughout the year including formals, crush parties, and exchanges.



We hold a formal each semester, where Thetas can dress up and get down! Members can bring a date, or just go solo with their sisters. In the past, we’ve held this event at the Des Moines Botanical Center, the Blank Park Zoo, and on the top floor of the Ruan building downtown Des Moines.




Thetas have exchanges with multiple campus chapters each semester, where the two chapters meet up to get to know each other a little better. Exchanges range from casual afternoons bowling or going to a Bucs hockey game to fun evenings dressing up for a theme! We also try to have service exchanges to help our community while connecting with another fraternity or sorority.



Thiesta is our annual crush party, where each sister can invite her friends to come party with Theta! Each year we have a different fun theme. In the past, we’ve enjoyed dressing up as Cowgirls and Indians, and a variety of High School Stereotypes.
