Welcome to Delta Delta!

Theta Section of Prentiss Hall
Welcome to Delta Delta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at Whitman College!

Since the establishment of our chapter in 1956, Kappa Alpha Theta has worked to make itself a viable presence on campus. Our women are ever present in the Whitman community, taking roles in Associated Students of Whitman College, the Pioneer (student newspaper), dance team, Blue Moon (literary magazine), chorale, as well as many other extracurricular activities. Kappa Alpha Theta continually strives for academic excellence, managing to achieve the highest Greek GPA for the last eight semesters. Our chapter is also active philanthropically, whether it be through visiting residents of the Oddfellows Home, building homes for Habitat for Humanity, or fundraising for our affiliated program, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). Year after year, we attract women with a diversity of interests and opinions, making our sorority a strong place to learn and grow during the college years.

New Members!

We are so thrilled to welcome a new member class of intelligent, fun, and unique women! Spring recruitment marked a new landmark this year–– fourteen fabulous new members! The whole chapter is super excited to get to know our new members better.

Cakes for CASA: Whitman's Best Dance Crew Edition!

November 13th marked KAO's first annual Cakes for CASA Whitman's Best Dance Crew addition. We raised a record amount of money for the local chapter of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), and had a blast doing it. Students from all over the campus feasted on pancakes, while enjoying the fierce performances of the crews vying for the title. Check out the video highlights online!

Theta of the Week

Meet Alexe, a sophomore from Lake Oswego, OR. Not only is Alexe an astrophysics whiz, but she’s also a black belt in karate! Some other fun facts you may not know about Alexe…

Quirkiest hobby: Eating frozen blueberries with chopsticks

Dream job: Working in a science museum/planetarium getting kids stoked about science

Someday she’d like to: See the Aurora Borealis

Favorite kitchen utensil: Spatula (so much fun to say!)

Quality she admires most in others: Optimistic realism, and a really good sense of humor that must include sarcasm

Little known fact: Alexe owns her own motorcycle, a Honda 250 Rebel

If Alex’s life were a movie, it would be: Star Wars

And Alexe’s best memory of Theta: “My Mom-Dot night when Esther went to my room in Anderson and found a bunch of my crazy/weird stuff - including a book which, if you read only the back cover, sounds very much like a kinky romance novel.”

Uh oh! Luckily Alexe’s personal motto is “no worries!”
