Dear Potential New Members,
While I was in high school, my older sister went off to college at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. By the end of her freshman year, she had joined the Phi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta and immediately began bonding with the other members of the chapter. Every time she and I spoke, she always told me about her sisters, a great fundraiser her chapter was organizing, a Theta formal, or many of the other incredible events with her sorority. Over the years, she was very involved with the chapter, and I’m certain she would say joining Kappa Alpha Theta was the best decision she made while in college; the lasting friendships and many memories with her sisters greatly enriched her time at the University of the Pacific. Seeing what a tremendous impact Kappa Alpha Theta had on not only my sister’s college experience but also her life after college sparked my interest in sorority life. When I came to Harvard from Southern California, I didn’t know many people and really wanted to find my “niche” on campus; like every other freshman, I was eager to find a new group of best friends. I decided to rush, not knowing what to expect at all. Honestly, I was beyond impressed with the young women of Kappa Alpha Theta’s Zeta Xi Chapter at Harvard during rush. Each young woman I met was exceptionally friendly, intelligent, classy, and talented in her own unique way. I immediately felt like I could relate to members of the chapter, and knew I would find many members with common interests. The Zeta Xi chapter is amazing in so many ways! Not only does each of my sisters excel academically, but also many are athletes, singers, actresses, club presidents, and involved in service organizations. The young women of the Zeta Xi chapter thrive in Harvard’s challenging academic environment, involve themselves in many organizations outside of the classroom, and truly care for their sisters. At Harvard, I am involved in several other activities outside of Theta, but being a member of Kappa Alpha Theta is without a doubt my favorite activity and the best decision I have made thus far in college. I have already formed strong friendships with my sisters, and I know they will only continue to grow throughout my time at Harvard. The amazing thing about Theta is that I’m not just a member while I’m in college; I am a Theta for the rest of my life. There are thousands of women across the country that I will always share a special connection with. Joining Theta has brought my older sister and I even closer, as we will always share the special connection we have as Thetas. The Zeta Xi chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta has become an integral part of my life, and I will never forget the experiences and lasting friendships I have with my sisters. Theta has already made an incredible impact on me in the past year, and in the many years after college it will only continue to be a positive force in my life.
Theta Love and Mine,
