Balanced Woman

Kappa Alpha Theta's educational program is called the Balanced Woman Member Education Program. Member Education is an ongoing process for all members of our Fraternity. We believe in the concept of continual membership education through all four years of college, as well as through association with local alumnae groups.

Ongoing and progressive educational programs are provided according to the year of membership.

Modules included in the Balanced Woman are:
  • Learn (freshmen): Build an understanding of the Fraternity through the new member education program Theta for a Lifetime, and promote involvement and leadership opportunities on campus
  • Grow (sophomores): Gain self-awareness, learn the building blocks of a healthy lifestyle, and emphasize moral growth and service
  • Excel (juniors): Gain awareness of community issues and volunteer opportunities, and build academic and real-world discipline
  • Theta for a Lifetime (seniors): Create the tools for a successful and rewarding alumnae experience

Kappa Alpha Theta prepares women to be leaders in life, and offers rich opportunities for members to hone the strengths and skills they will need to make a difference in their communities.

New Member Education

One component of the Balanced Woman program is our new member orientation program called Theta for a Lifetime, which incorporates seven modules that can be completed in a short period of time.

Kappa Alpha Theta strongly believes that each and every member is a valuable part of the college chapter, and that her talents can be fully realized with the elimination of a prolonged new member program.

Chapters can conduct the new member orientation program over a four- to six-week orientation period followed by initiation. A date for initiation that is compatible with the school calendar can be selected within four to six weeks of formal pledging.

After members are initiated, the education process continues throughout membership in the chapter.
