Harriet Huntington Doerr, Prize-winning Author, dies
Harriet Huntington Doerr, Phi deuteron/Stanford, dies.

Doerr's first novel, Stones for Ibarra, published when she was 72, was awarded the 1984 American Book Award for First Fiction Work. The several works that followed also won her praise.

Edith Williams, Pioneer Veterinarian, dies
Edith Williams, Sigma/Toronto, dies.

Williams, who graduated in 1941 from the Ontario Veterinary College, was the second woman in Canada and the fifth in North America to receive a veterinary degree.
