The Service Trip is a service immersion experience where participants will work to serve areas of need in the community. In the past, trip participants have worked to build a house with Habitat for Humanity, served a local children's program, rehabbed a community center, and visited a local CASA program. No matter what the work entails, each trip participant has developed as a leader.
The Service Trip is offered several times a year!
- Winter—Jan. 8-13, 2018, Detroit. Open to undergraduate third-year/juniors and above.
- Alumnae—Feb. 15-19, 2018, New Orleans. Open to all alumnae.
- Summer—Location TBD. Open to all undergraduates.
Who should attend?
Aside from the specifications noted above, the trip is for Thetas seeking to learn more about the impact of service and how serving others can change and develop each as a person. It doesn't matter if you've attended service-learning experiences in the past or not—we are looking for Theta collegians, in good standing with the Fraternity, who are interested in making real and lasting change by spreading the widest influence for good.
For undergraduate trips, participants must have undergraduate status at the time of the trip. Similarly, for alumnae trips, participants must have alumnae status at the time of the trip. We give preference to registrants who are from different chapters as well as to members of chapters that have never been on the trip before.
The interest in Theta's service trips is truly inspiring! Please understand that it isn't possible for all applicants to participate in a trip; please also understand that submitting an early application is not a guarantee of participation. What is the cost to attend?
- Winter—$350 per person
- Alumnae—$575 per person
When do I need to apply?
Please do not make any travel arrangements until your trip application is confirmed and you have been instructed to do so.
Application timeframes will be announced closer to the date of each trip.
