Establishing a College Chapter
Extension
Extension is the addition of National Panhellenic Conference chapters to the Panhellenic community on a college or university campus, or the establishment of a fraternity community on a campus where previously none had existed. Extension is a pioneering process.

Charter Class from James Madison
Since our founding in 1870, we have attracted women who are willing to take the lead, open new doors, blaze new trails. Kappa Alpha Theta has always appealed to pioneering spirits. Our track record of extending the Theta sisterhood to new campuses is really remarkable. And it’s little wonder. Building new traditions, forging lifelong friendships, leaving a lasting legacy – these are just a few of the rewards of being the first in Kappa Alpha Theta.
Young women today have the same basic needs and desires as our founders did in 1870 - to find an organization that can provide guidance and support during their academic pursuits, both now and in the years to come.
Our Most Recent Pioneers
Since 2000, Kappa Alpha Theta has successfully established chapters at the following colleges and universities. Each is currently thriving on their campus.
How do I start a chapter on my campus?
For 138 years, Kappa Alpha Theta has sought partnerships with Greek communities across the United States and Canada that have a meaningful "fit" with our organization. We do not enter into a new partnership without careful thought, research, and understanding of a college and a campus.

Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity is always looking for an opportunity for international growth through chartering a college chapter. As a member of the National Panhellenic Conference, Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity agrees to follow a specific set of agreements by which all member groups must abide. These agreements govern the extension process.
