Kappa Alpha Theta's annual International Day of Service is celebrated each year on or around our founder Bettie Locke's birthday (October 19). Day of Service was launched in 2009 as a way to take time out of our busy lives one day a year to honor our commitment to exercise the widest influence for good. It's the power of one multiplied by 200,000—the number of living, initiated members around the world.
We are Kappa Alpha Theta. We are leading women. Nearly 150 years ago, Kappa Alpha Theta was founded as the first Greek-letter fraternity for women. In the decades since then, Theta ideas and programs have often been on the cutting edge—individual and as chapters, we are known for leading in our communities and on our campuses.
