Volunteer Frequently Asked Questions

Am I qualified to be a Theta volunteer?

Of course! Any Theta, no matter if she served as an officer in her undergraduate career or not, can complete a Volunteer Interest Indicator (Online)  and be placed in a Theta volunteer role.

Do I have to be a certain age to volunteer?

No, any Theta alumna in good standing with the Fraternity can volunteer immediately following graduation.

Will I receive the training and support I need?

Absolutely. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible in your role. In fact, we host regular webinars on special volunteer topics. We also have manuals on the website. If you have a recommendation about a training resource that you would like to see, email us for more information.

Who can I turn to for help?

That depends on what you need! Access a list of Theta staff contacts by programming area. Also, you can access a list of advisor contacts by advisor type in the Advisor Personnel Resources (PDF)  . If you still don’t know to whom you should forward your question, email , and we will be happy to forward your question to the appropriate contact.

How much time will volunteering for Theta take? What are the minimum expectations?

Each Theta volunteer role requires a different commitment of time and effort. That’s what makes volunteering for Theta so special: There is a job for everyone, regardless of her schedule.

I’m concerned about liability in dealing with collegian or alumnae risky behavior. Am I protected through the Fraternity?

As long as you are following the policies and/or guidelines of the organization and are acting on behalf of Kappa Alpha Theta, your interests will be protected by the insurance policy. For more information about risk management, see the FIPG Manual (PDF)  .

Still have questions? Email , and we will be happy to assist you.
