December 2016

For many, the last month of the year often means looking back at the last 12 months. For this “What’s New” post, I will highlight some of the new content added to this site in the last month and also remember what was new over the past year.

Have you seen the Ask the Archivist feature in the Autumn 2016 issue of the Theta magazine? “What Does an Archive Intern Do?”, written by the 2016 archive intern Isabel Mularoni, Beta Tau/Denison, recounts a project digitizing a scrapbook which contains items from the earliest days of Theta, including letters from founders Bettie Locke Hamilton and Alice Allen Brant. Our archive internship program will continue in the summer of 2017; stay tuned for our announcement early next year. Meanwhile, check out the previous Ask the Archivist/Through the Years articles, which are posted each quarter.

We are continuing the countdown to Theta’s sesquicentennial in 2020. (I think by then I will be able to spell “sesquicentennial” without even thinking!) A sneak peak of the sesquicentennial video is available for viewing now. It’s very exciting that we are only three years away from the celebration of our 150th anniversary!

In looking over additions to the heritage site in 2016, I see the many ways we have continued to add stories of Theta, be it through special exhibits, or in our Notable Thetas, or through blog posts. We have some great plans for 2017 so keep checking the site for new content. As always, let us know if you have any questions or suggestions for content for the Theta heritage site.
