February 2017 Archives News
02/02/2017
It’s February, so at my house, we are already thinking about spring. Here on the heritage site, we are adding information.
Most of the new content on the site reflects items related to Founders Day 2017. If you have not yet seen the new Sesquicentennial video, we have it on the site for your viewing pleasure. Information on the new "Bettie and Her Family" exhibit is also available on the site, and we will continue to post information and images from the exhibit. Check back often! Several recent blog posts relate to the exhibit, including one by Fraternity Archivist Lisa Edelmann McLaughlin, Beta Rho/Duke, on exploring just one part of the collection and another that captures a bit of the excitement an archivist can feel about a great collection.
In 2017, we are marking the Year of Scholarship and recognizing founder Alice Allen Brant. Check out her biography. On this page as well as the other founders’ pages, use the “Related Blogs” links to previous blog posts about that specific founder.
February is the month for Valentine’s Day and we are reviving two blog posts about how Thetas in the past celebrated the day. The first contains dating advice from the past as offered by the University of Iowa’s “Code of Coeds, 1942-1943,” and the other reflects on the dance parties of the past as seen in our collection of dance cards.
Hope you have a great month!
