January 2018 Archives News

Happy New Year! I don’t know about you, but I always enjoy the first few weeks of the new year. The weather might be questionable, yet there seems to be a sense of optimism in the air.

I am excited to think about the new documents, photos, and artifacts I may receive here in the archives or what fun projects that I will get to work on over the next year. (I also clean my desk at the end of the year, so I even get to re-discover my work space.)

I am also excited because 2018 is a Convention year for Theta. I love Convention and all the history surrounding it! I will attend again this biennium with an exhibit and some other surprises. If you want to get a sense of the rich history of Convention and how Thetas of the past experienced it, check out the Remember Convention page.

Finally, January marks the anniversary of the founding of Kappa Alpha Theta and many of us remember our founders, Bettie, Alice, Bettie, and Hannah at Founders Day events. You can find biographical sketches of all the founders on the heritage site.

I look forward to where the year may lead me in uncovering and sharing Theta history. Let me know if there are topics you would like to see covered on the heritage site or via Snapchat.
