September 2017 Archives News

For many of our chapters, both college and alumnae, autumn marks the start of the “new year.” Here in the archives, we have been busy over the summer and have new projects for the fall.

An exciting new feature on the heritage site tells the story of each of our chapters, past and present. The College Chapters page allows you to select your chapter (or browse all chapters) and discover information about its establishment, notable alumnae (click on their images to find out more), a listing of first-place awards received at Grand Convention, a listing of selected national officers from the chapter, and documents reflecting the history of the chapter. You have the option to create reports that compile all content found on the page. Let me know if you find it useful and what other information would you like to see on the chapter heritage pages.

We have also posted a new blog and a new article from the Theta magazine. Check out the post by archives intern Elle Benak, “Theta and the Great Depression,” showcasing how Theta has had a long history of supporting its members. The Ask the Archivist article from the Summer 2017 Magazine, “What Did Theta Do During World War I?” looks back at the pages of the Magazine from 1917-1918 to reflect on the contributions Thetas did both on the home front and overseas during the war.

Don’t forget that the heritage site has lots of content that can be shared at meetings and activities. Follow along with the archives on the Fraternity’s social media feeds including the weekly Snapchat story from the archives.

Have a great fall!
