A Theta History and Love That Runs Deep

My mother did live long enough and was so thrilled to know that her granddaughter, Alice Myers Bailey, pledged Kappa Alpha Theta at the Gamma Omega Chapter at Auburn last fall as a fourth-generation legacy. My aunt, Sarah Myers Corley, Alpha Chi/Purdue, is also very proud!

After a long illness, Janet died and was unable to attend her granddaughter's initiation. We believe she passed away a week before so that she could be there in spirit. I attended the Initiation Service and pinned Alice with the badge that had belonged to her grandmother and great-grandmother's (Annabelle Parr Myers, Gamma/Butler). It was very emotional! Alice is certainly surrounded by Theta love.

It was overwhelming to know that Alice's great-grandmother went through the same initiation 89 years prior. I remember Annabelle telling us how she met Bettie Locke Hamilton as an older woman at a Founders Day when she was a collegian at Butler. Annabelle and Janet are both buried in the same cemetery as Alice Allen Brant: Brick Chapel in Greencastle, Indiana. Our Theta history and love runs deep.
