What can graduating Thetas do to prepare for the job market?
- Focus on transferable skills and competencies rather than a major. Highlight soft skills such as communication and adaptability. Showcase skills relevant to the field. Provide examples of where your skills have been used in real-world applications. For example, look back on your time as a Theta collegian. What skills did you acquire during your college years that might be worth mentioning during an interview? Were you responsible for anything? Did you facilitate meetings? Did you have to plan an event?
- Become familiar with remote communication and collaboration tools. Be able to provide examples of where you demonstrate time management and self-motivational skills. For example, as a Theta collegian, did you ever have to balance your schoolwork, your Theta membership, a part-time job, and more? What about a time when you had to complete something on your own and had to remain calm under pressure?
- Target growing industries. Familiarize yourself with fields and professions you haven’t yet considered. You’ll be surprised how diverse industries can be regarding job functions!
