Recruitment will take on many different shapes and sizes this year, due to the changed dynamics of colleges reopening during the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing guidelines placed on recruitment activities. (You can learn more about that from the National Panhellenic Conference website.) Kappa Alpha Theta supports virtual recruitment. It may be different, but as leading women we are prepared to take on this new way of sorority life. We don’t yet know what recruitment will entail for those chapters that recruit in the spring; Theta will keep all of our stakeholders informed as we learn more.
Theta will not be able to publish a list of recruitment dates and structures this fall because this information is changing rapidly due to federal, state, and local guidelines. We understand that many members have relied on Theta supplying this information in the past, and we appreciate your understanding. If you are curious about what is happening at a specific campus, we encourage you to search the chapter’s social media or the social media accounts of the college Panhellenic.
Theta is actively working to support our college chapters by providing support on recruitment policies, practices, and inclusion efforts. We can use your help! Here’s what we need from all members.
- Reach out to young women who may be interested in joining a sorority. Tell them about your Theta experience and encourage them to research sorority recruitment at their campus. Send them this video by TheSororityLife.com. We cannot encourage them to join Theta specifically, but we can help them see the benefits of going Greek! You can use the following language if you need a place to start.
Hello, (PNM Name)! -
Are you excited to start college in the fall? I hope so! I joined Kappa Alpha Theta at (Your School Name), and it was one of the best parts of my college experience. (Add a couple of lines about your Theta experience.)
This fall may not look the way you were expecting it to, but I hope you’re looking forward to it, nonetheless. Have you considered joining a sorority at (PNM School Name)? If not, I really encourage you to look into it. You can follow the sororities on Instagram to learn more and then register for recruitment at (PNM School Name). If you’re attending orientation this summer, be sure to ask there as well!
If you have more questions about joining a sorority, please let me know! I wish you all the best in your collegiate journey!
- If you don’t know any potential members personally, share Theta posts on social media or update your profile picture with your favorite Theta photo. You never know who you could reach this way! You can direct anyone to TheSororityLife.com to learn more.
- Submit a reference! As always, our chapters can benefit from references that are submitted for potential members. We are asking this year that all references be submitted using our online form.
You can find the most up-to-date information on Theta and COVID-19 on the Coronavirus Update web page.
