Janet Myder was honored as Volunteer of the Year by the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) during its annual conference in Raleigh, NC, in May. The award recognized her passion and commitment for the myasthenia gravis (MG) community, hard work, high standards and dedication to improving life for all those with MG.

MGFA is committed to finding a cure for MG (an autoimmune neuromuscular disorder) and closely related disorders by improving treatment options and providing information and support to people with MG through research, education, community programs, and advocacy.

Janet is the co-founder of the Low Country Myasthenia Gravis (MG) Support Group and a former member of the MGFA board of directors. She has been involved with MGFA for 19 years, starting in Maryland with her service on the chapter board and local support group, and has continued her advocacy and dedication in South Carolina since 2009. She is the editor of the MGFA quarterly, E-Update, and an active member of the MGFA Communications/Outreach Committee.
