Young alumnae in Little Rock at a minor league baseball game
When I moved to Little Rock, Arkansas last Memorial Day, I knew approximately five people in the entire state. I was overwhelmed with the idea of making new friends in an entirely new city, and almost instantly turned to the one thing I know best: Theta. With the help of the wonderful staff at headquarters, I was given a contact list of young Theta alumnae in the area. Because there is no longer a college chapter in the state of Arkansas, these young alums (all having graduated in the past 15 years) come from all different college chapters, from California to Florida.

It has been really fun getting to meet other young, professional women who share the same bond of Kappa Alpha Theta. We met recently at a local minor league baseball game with our spouses and significant others. These gatherings are casual: a happy hour one month and a baseball game the next. They allow us to come and go as we please, when work commitments or young families pull us in opposite directions. But most importantly, we get to maintain our connection to Theta through socializing and sisterhood.

What young alumnae connections can you make in your community? I challenge you to find those recent graduates or other Thetas just looking for a new friend in a sister. This Theta world is small; you never know who you'll meet!

Stacey Jarrett, Alpha Mu/Missouri, serves Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity as a college district director.
