Mary at Hannah's grave
My second Theta adventure of the summer (read about my first) was a visit to the gravesite of our youngest founder, Hannah Fitch Shaw. It was easier to convince my husband to come with me as Lawrenceburg, Indiana, is a short drive from attractions in Cincinnati and the northern Kentucky areas, and we were able to make an entire day of fun out of the trip.

Despite the torrential downpours of that morning, I was determined not to be defeated by the rain! The decision turned out to be a great one as the rain slowed down a lot by the time we pulled in to Greendale Cemetery. Once arriving and finding her section, my husband Paul and I began searching. This time Paul was the first one to yell out, "I found her!" I was very pleased to discover not only was her gravesite well cared for, but the Fraternity plaque noting she was a founder of Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity was also in good order and directly in front of her headstone. Hannah is buried next to her husband and children.

Mary Howard Leppo, Delta Upsilon/Eastern Kentucky, is the advisory board chairman at her chapter, and is a charter Life Loyal member.
